The WBFSH (World Breeding Federation of Sport Horses) ranking honours the 10 best stallions in the 3 Olympic disciplines each year. In the show jumping discipline, the Mecklenburg stallion Chacco-Blue (Chambertin x Contender) dominates the 2022 ranking. In second and third place are Selle Français Diamant de Semilly (Le Tot de Semilly x Elf III) and Mylord Carthago (Carthago x Jalisco B).

Chacco Blue stallion

In 2022 and for the sixth consecutive year, the show jumping stallion Chacco-Blue is number one in the world in the WBFSH ranking. The stallion by Chambertin with a dam by Contender, who died in 2012, has left behind him a huge production full of quality, as many of his foals are competing on 5* tracks. Owned by Paul Schöckemöhle, he was ridden at the highest level by German rider Andreas Kreutzer, who says that Chacco-Blue was a stallion with an exceptional mind. Amongst his offspring are the top horses Chacco Rouge, Chacoon Blue, Chacgrano, Chacco Chacco, ... and the current Olympic Champion of the 2022 Tokyo Olympics, Explosion W (ridden by Ben Maher)!

Diamant de Semilly is a SFO (Selle Français Originel) stallion by Le Tot de Semilly and Venise des Cresles (by Elf III). He has left his mark on French equestrian sports both through his sporting and breeding careers. In 2015 and 2016, he occupied the first place in the WBFSH ranking and has never left the podium since. As a true leader of the Selle Français studbook, Diamant has won the World Championship in Jerez in 2002 under the saddle of his sole rider Eric Levallois, alongside the French team (composed of 3 other stallions: Dollar dela Pierre, Dollar du Mûrier and Crocus Graverie) and finished in 9th place individually. The following year, he won the team silver medal at the European Championships. His immense production includes more than 4,000 products in France. Among the best known are Quickly de Kreisker, Toledo de Kerser, Diarado, Vital Chance* de la Roque, Don VHP Z, Ilex VP, Dominator 2000 Z, ...

Mylord Carthago is 3rd on the podium. This son of Carthago out of a dam by Jalisco B has made a name for himself thanks to Pénélope Leprévost, who has taken him to the highest level. He is World and European vice-champion in 2010 and 2011, has won the Grand Prix 5* in Paris, Helsinki, Vienna, ... and has made a name for himself on the Nations Cup circuit with victories in La Baule, Rome, Aachen. Many of his foals are now 5* performers: Timon d'Aure, Twentytwo des Biches, Tolede de Mescam, Vertigo du Desert, Billabong du Roumois, Cocaïne du Val, ... In Eventing, he's the sire of Christopher Six and Astier Nicolas' super horses: Totem de Brecey and Babylon de Gamma.

Kannan*GFE is a KWPN stallion, son of Voltaire and Nimmerdor. Under the saddle of his rider Michel Hécart, Kannan has had a great sporting career with, among other things, victories in Nations Cups and Grand Prix, but it is as a sire that he has had the greatest success. In 2014, he occupied the 1st place in the WBFSH ranking and remained 2nd for 3 years. No less than 600 of his offspring have competed internationally: Mom's Toupie de la Roque, Quabri de l'Isle, Molly Malone V, Vintadge de la Roque, Broadway de Mormoulin, ... Kannan*GFE, who died in 2020, is considered a leader of the KWPN studbook.

The 5th place of the ranking is occupied by the BWP stallion Toulon, who is a son of the famous Heartbreaker and Nikita (by Jokinal de Bornival). The stallion was successively ridden by the French rider Hubert Bourdy at a high level and then by the Belgian Wilm Veirmer, with whom he was Belgian vice-champion in 2008. He has been in the Top 10 of the WBFSH ranking for 5 years, thanks to the results of his best offspring: Delux Van T&L (ridden by Niels Bruynseels, winner in 5* and Nations Cup, he took part in the Tokyo Olympics), Dieu Merci Van T&L (ridden first by Eric Lamaze and then by Beth Underhill with whom he won the 5* Grand Prix in La Baule in 2022), Visconti du Telman (currently competing at 5* level under the saddle of French rider Kevin Staut), Vancouver de Lanlore (performer in Grand Prix and Major Championships, associated with Pénélope Leprévost until 2022, then with Pius Schwizer), ...

Casall is the stallion of all superlatives: he has had an extraordinary longevity in sport, with a career littered with successes in show jumping under the saddle of Swedish rider Rolf Goran Bengtsson. He is one of the greatest references in modern sport with more than 20 Grand Prix victories and an individual 4th place (in the final round) at the World Equestrian Games in Caen in 2014. The Holstein stallion's offspring is as talented as he is: at high level, one thinks of Casello (ridden by Ludger Beerbaum), Caracas (ridden by Jos Verloy), Cochello (associated with Piergiorgio Bucchi), or Simon Delestre's crack horse Chesall Zimequest, Mégane Moissonnier's spectacular stallion Cordial... On the youngsters' side, Kasallito des Forêts won the 2-year-old Selle Français Stallion Championship in 2022, and Italia de Champloue won the French Champion for 3-year-old females title in 2021, then did not touch a single fence in her 4-year-old year.
